company history

J. C. Madigan, Inc. is one of New England's premier truck equipment distributors.

Jack Madigan started J. C. Madigan, Inc in 1955 by selling and spreading agricultural lime in Massachusetts and New Hampshire. After a few years, seeing an opportunity to expand his business, he began to sell lime and fertilizer spreaders to customers throughout New England and the Canadian Maritimes.

As sales of spreader equipment continued to grow, Jack turned his focus away from spreading lime and towards selling truck equipment. Many customers who purchased lime spreading equipment from Jack also had needs for sand and salt spreaders and Jack quickly expanded the business to meet this demand. This loyal customer base recognized the quality of equipment being supplied by J.C. Madigan, Inc., as well as the product support after the sale, and they began to look to J.C. Madigan, Inc. to fulfill more and more of their truck equipment needs, including platforms, utility bodies, and dump bodies.

In July 2011 the company consolidated its operations into a newly constructed 76,000 square foot facility on over 60 acres in Lancaster, Massachusetts.

The company has continued to expand its product offerings well beyond the original spreaders to include:

  • Dump Bodies
  • Platform Bodies
  • Utility/Service Bodies
  • Snowplows
  • Snow Pushers
  • Sanding and Deicing Equipment
  • Hooklifts
  • Asphalt Patchers
  • Liftgates
  • Emergency Lighting
  • Waste Equipment
  • Trailers
  • Mower Equipment
  • Truck Accessories

The Company's sales force markets this full line of truck equipment to municipalities, end users and truck dealers. The company also serves the New England region with its GMC, Chevrolet and Ram bailment pools.

J.C. Madigan, Inc. has been a member of the National Truck Equipment Association since 1982 and achieved MVP status in 2005. The NTEA Member Verification Program (MVP) recognizes companies in the work truck industry for outstanding business practices and successful implementation of quality standards.

The family has remained close to its roots in the lime business as they also operate Madigan Lime Corporation which distributes industrial and agricultural lime throughout New England and can be found on the web at www.industriallime.com.
